   Measuring Tips

  1. Always measure the width and length of the window itself. Include the wood trim in your measurements. (Unless you are installing the treatment on your woodwork.)

  2. Measure the distance from the ceiling to the floor and the distance from the ceiling to the top of the window (trim).

  3. Measure the distance from the trim or the sill to the floor.

  4. Indicate where you will be installing the rod or the board. For example, do you want to have the treatment hug the window trim, or would you prefer extending the treatment 4” outside of the window on both sides? *Always let your workroom know that.

  5. Decide what fullness you want your sheers/drapes to be. Do you want them to open and close or just to be stationary. Draperies to be lined or unlined? Do you need the sheers or drapes to open from one side. (ie. A sliding glass door)

  6. What type of flooring is there? Carpeting? This plays a factor in the finished length.

  7. Any unusual treatment such as an arched window or an elaborate swag needs specific measurements and/or a template. This type of treatment needs to be discussed specifically and there are many technical measurements that will be needed to achieve the look you want!
